Employment history
This is the boring, dry, jargonny bit of the website. I haven't always been self-employed, so here's what I did when I wasn't - my employment history...

(I mostly develop websites using PHP and MySql now.)

Analyst/Programmer at Target Worldwide Express
At Target Worldwide Express, as an Analyst/Programmer I developed web applications for internal use, in ASP and SQL Server 7. I also further developed my JavaScript ability, by including client-side JavaScript form validation in web systems, the retrieval and automatic completion of forms based on client form entry (for example looking up an address in the database, and filling in the appropriate fields on the web form, based on the postcode entered), and checking the format of codes entered using regular expressions. Whilst at Target Worldwide Express I was responsible for developing some critical systems, one of which was the internal web system for entering details of consignments, which if entered incorrectly would directly impact on the company revenue.

Web Applications Developer at Ep-One Ltd
Before Ep-One Ltd ceased trading, I worked as a Web Applications Developer with them. I was working with Windows NT, IIS, SQL Server 7 and ASP, developing a hosted recruitment system dealing with vacancies, candidates and recruitment consultants. A few of my key developments were to introduce scheduled SQL Server 7 stored procedures to perform various matching and e-mailing processes overnight; the facility for candidates to upload their Word document CV’s via their web browser, and for those CV’s to be searched by recruitment consultants; and a template system whereby customers can control and maintain the look and navigation of their recruitment site themselves, even hosting the templates on their own site from where they are automatically retrieved.

Web Development Manager at the University of Manchester & UMIST Careers Service
In March 1999 until March 2000 I worked as Web Development Manager at the University of Manchester & UMIST Careers Service, responsible for their (at the time) five web sites and Intranet. All the interactive elements of their sites were programmed by me. These included such things as searches, internal staff administration systems, customisable parts of the sites eg My Netwise, online sign-up for employer presentations, and a news e-mailing system (vacancies by e-mail).

Software Engineer at CSU Ltd (now Graduate Prospects Ltd)
As a Software Engineer at CSU (now Graduate Prospects Ltd) I was an active member of the 'web team' committee. My main responsibility was web programming (primarily searches) for Prospects Web but I also wrote desktop systems for internal staff use in maintaining information on the site, and wrote the Microsoft Windows based AGCAS Databank used in many Careers Services across the UK.
