HTML live chat system

The live chat system allows CSU (now Graduate Prospects) to set up and schedule future chats which they will moderate between an employer and graduates who join the chat. Since the chat is in plain HTML it doesn't have any compatibility issues so that anybody can use it. All messages submitted by graduates are queued, and the moderator can edit messages before passing them on to the employer to answer. The graduate can see where their message currently is in the queue. The moderator and employer can send private messages to each other. The moderator can suspend/resume new messages, delete messages, send a private message to a user, ban/unban a user, and see a list of chat users with their idle time in minutes. After a chat has ended, CSU can use the admin system to edit the chat transcript (delete, edit and re-order messages) before releasing it to the public, searchable archive. Various statistical bar charts are also available.

The administration system is password protected, so you can't try that out, but I may provide screen shots soon.

Graduate recruitment administration system for Centrica

CSU (now Graduate Prospects) developed the applicant side of the web-based graduate recruitment application system for Centrica - where people can apply for a position by effectively filling in their CV information. They approached me to develop the administration system for Centrica to use to manage the applications they receive. The system I developed was written in Java Servlets & JSP, accessing a SQL Server database. It took two months to develop. It is very flexible and configurable, consisting of the following areas:
  1. Password protected login.
  2. Administer accounts (user login accounts, and their access levels).
  3. Administer workstream stages (setup your workstreams e.g. IT, Finance).
  4. Administer workstream stages (the stages of the application process e.g. first round).
  5. Administer bookings, sessions and participant/assessor ratios (allowing you to configure different types of booking e.g. interviews, assessment centres, and the types of daily sessions which can be signed up for (e.g. 9-12, or all day) etc.
  6. Administer booking calendar and number of assessors available at sessions (e.g. which days/sessions are available for applicants to book? How many places? Who's signed up so far?)
  7. Administer feedback forms (allows the creation of feedback forms which are used to record and score performance e.g. at interview).
  8. Administer e-mail settings and templates (specify headers and footers for e-mails, from e-mail address, setup templates for standard messages).
  9. Search for a specific applicant.
  10. Browse applicants by workstream/stage.
  11. Reporting/statistics area, including advanced reporting enable you to combine multiple criteria to build custom reports.
There are also actions that apply to specific applicants or applicants in bulk. These fall into the following areas:
  1. View/print application.
  2. Move to another stage in the application process.
  3. Move to another workstream (e.g. IT).
  4. Send an e-mail.
  5. View e-mails previously sent, and re-send.
  6. Enter/view feedback scoring (using feedback forms configured).
  7. Access booking system (enable to book, view bookings made, make a booking on their behalf etc.).
  8. View/search action log (who performed what actions and when, relating to this applicant).

Unfortunately, because it is a password protected system, I cannot provide a link for you to try it out. I also don't feel it would be appropriate for me to provide many screenshots or more detailed information on the system.

Questiontime careers advice system

I didn't develop the whole of this system, CSU (now Graduate Prospects) contacted me to extend an existing system of theirs. The Questiontime system allows students/graduates to submit questions to be answered by a Careers Advisor. There is a password protected administration system which allows Careers Advisors to manage and reply to the questions which are submitted. CSU's existing system is called Graduate Questiontime and is available for use by registered users on their website. My role was to take the Graduate Questiontime system and extend it for use by Careers Services across the country. To do this, apart from making changes to the existing code to ensure that an institution only deals with questions submitted to it, I added an administration system for CSU to use to set up new institutions in the system and assign them a master admin account. The master admin account at the institution can then create and manage other accounts/logins for their Questiontime system. I also provided facilities for the institutions to specify the contents of automatic e-mails (e.g. confirming that someone's question was submitted), setup which automatic e-mails they wanted the system to send, headers and footers to send on all e-mails, and their from e-mail address. I also provided access to standard reporting graphs showing things like the percentage of questions which were received in each month over the last 12 months, and advisor response times to questions. I also added reporting to the CSU administration system, comparing the number of quesions each institution has been receiving over the last year to compare how successful it has been for them.

Since the main changes to the Questiontime system are in the password protected administrative side, I cannot provide a link to it.
