i-to-i Recommendation "The work has always been of the highest quality. Moreover, it is the proactive nature of the work and the understanding and empathy to the needs of i-to-i. From my perspective, Fiona makes my life a lot easier." - Joe Hallwood, Internet Marketing Manager, i-to-i Projects for i-to-i Wellbeingbreaks.com website content, breaks and bookings management system Logo and website design for c-loop courses admin system Courses label and letter printing software Online & weekend TEFL courses quickstart Messageboard system eCards system Surveys / questionnaire system Free trial online TEFL taster course Photo gallery system Website content management system Online TEFL course Shopping cart system Application forms system Desktop application Wellbeingbreaks.com website content, breaks and bookings management system Wellbeingbreaks.com is a website created by i-to-i for providing a comprehensive online retail service for relaxing breaks (e.g. spa, yoga, t'ai chi, golf and more). The method of maintaining the standard content of the website is based on the CMS (Content Management System) I prevously developed for i-to-i's maintenance of most of their other websites. They can add, edit and delete web pages, without the use of any HTML - so that anybody can do it without training. They can also configure the navigation menu bar themselves, and attach different images to appear at the top of any page, within the system. The system also allows them to set up everything they need for their holiday/course venues, including contact details, pricing and date information (including seasonal variations), availability, descriptions, and attaching pictures of the venue itself for display on the site. They can also configure which search critiera should appear with which types of break (e.g. yoga as opposed to hotels). The system obviously handles displaying all the information on the website, searching the breaks, checking the availability, calculating the price, and handling the secure payment (using Secure Hosting) and the booking. i-to-i can then view and handle the booking information within the admin system. Unfortunately wellbeingbreaks.com is no longer running. But please: Take a look at some screen shots of how it used to be! Logo and website design for c-loop courses admin system It was decided to give the i-to-i online TEFL and weekend courses admin system (c-loop) a new professional look. The old look was getting very old, and the admin system had expanded massively in functionality and in its user base, with some external users having limited access to it.
View the c-loop design Courses label and letter printing software This is a Microsoft Windows desktop application written in Visual Basic. It has three functions: Online TEFL course tutee address label printing An address label for new tutees' is automatically printed so that course support material can be sent out to them. The date and time the label was printed is logged for each tutee. Labels can be re-printed for specific tutees' by flagging them in the online admin system. Weekend TEFL course tutee joining instructions letters For tutees' who prefer their joining instructions posted to them, rather than e-mailed, this automatically prints out these letters. Tutees' are flagged for letter printing via the online admin system, and letters can be re-requested. The date and time the letter was printed is logged for each tutee. Weekend TEFL course tutee address labels A future weekend TEFL course can be selected, then address labels for all the tutees' booked on that course will automatically be printed. View a screenshot of the printing software's control window Online & weekend TEFL courses quickstart This system allows a user to apply and make payment for an online and/or weekend TEFL course over the web, and get started immediately. If they bought an online TEFL course, they will have been automatically assigned to an appropriate tutor and can login and get started immediately. If they bought a weekend TEFL course they can login to the weekend TEFL website and view details of their course at any time (date, venue etc.). They are also able to change their contact details via their login. Whenever a weekend TEFL course sale is made, the availability of that course is automatically updated on the website. The i-to-i administration system allows staff to manage the courses and tutees'. It also provides reports on sales and marketing data. The moderator has the ability to approve these posts to make them publicly visible, and can also add, edit, delete posts, copy/move posts (and their replies) to another forum or messageboard on another website, and access a users details to edit or ban them (they can also see how many posts they have made). When the moderator or a user is logged in icons show where new messages have been posted since their last login. The admin system allows i-to-i to set up as many separate messageboards, with separate design settings, as they require. Within each messageboard they set up a list of forums with associated descriptions. Users then post topics and replies within these forums. The admin system also allows the configuration of a list of filter words, so that for example swear words can be identified and replaced - or the message automatically rejected. There is a search facility for finding a particular user (to be able to view/edit their details or ban/unban them), and a method of downloading the e-mail addresses of users who have agreed to be sent promotions or news from i-to-i. The reporting/stats section includes charts comparing how many new users registered each month/year and how many users registered from different customer groups (different customer account codes can be given out to different user groups for registering - you can only register with a valid customer account code). Take a look at the online TEFL website messageboard Take a look at the weekend TEFL website messageboard eCards system I developed a simple eCards system whereby visitors to i-to-i's website can send an eCard to a friend for free. The admin system I provided allows i-to-i to change the overall look of the eCards web pages to fit in with the design of their website, create categories for cards, and add cards themselves by attaching a thumbnail and full size picture to the web page for submission. The reporting section produces graphs showing how popular the eCards are - for example comparisons of how many have been sent each month, or each year. Take a look at the eCards Surveys / questionnaires system i-to-i were using standard e-mail forms for surveys, questionnaires and competitions on their website, but then had to enter all that information into spreadsheets to use it - which was very time consuming. They contacted me in the hope of finding a better solution. I developed a simple system whereby i-to-i can set up as many different surveys / questionnaires etc. as they require via a web-based admin system. The results are stored and can be downloaded (within a date range) directly as an Excel spreadsheet. Free trial online TEFL taster course I provided i-to-i with a new trial course, and a mini admin system. They already had a trial course, provided by another company when I was unavailable at the time, but it wasn't working properly and had no admin system. I not only developed a new trial course for them, improving upon the feel and functionality of the old one, but the admin system allows access to numerous reports and the retrieval of e-mail addresses via website (which i-to-i website the user had accessed the course from) and signup date range. The reports include bar chart comparisons of the number of users who signed up each year; each month of each year; and who signed up from each i-to-i website. Try out the taster course! View a screen shot of the admin system Photo gallery system i-to-i wanted to enable their website users to upload relevant photos of places they may have been to with them, or things they may have done e.g. teaching in Thailand, or conservation work etc. I provided them with a photo gallery system which allows the upload of photos via the web, the view of these photos by page, and a search of the photos (by country, category, and keywords). A single jpg photo is uploaded, but small thumbnail images are automatically shown in the listings by checking the dimensions of the original image and reducing them whilst maintaining the same aspect ratio (so that the image doesn't appear to be stretched). I also provided a password protected administration system so that the list of countries and categories can be maintained, and photos deleted, disabled, added and edited. It allows them to create and build a new website, and maintain existing websites. You can add, edit and delete web pages, without the use of any HTML - so that anybody can do it without training. You also configure the navigation menu bar yourself in the system, and which promotional boxes (if any) should appear down the right hand side etc. The system will also check your links for you: there's an internal link checking report which makes sure none of your internal site links are broken, and an external link report which checks that your links to external websites aren't broken. When broken links are found, the report gives details of the page the link(s) is on (with a link to change that page), the option to view the web page for you to take a look for yourself, and also quotes the link itself (so that you can try it, and see what's wrong). The best way to demonstrate some of it's features would be to view some screen shots. View some screen shots of the management system Online TEFL course, Weekend TEFL course, Jobs Abroad and much more I'm afraid that this text is rather out of date, the scope of courses and the admin system has expanded massively over the years. i-to-i had a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course, and wanted to develop an online version of this course to be delivered via the web. I designed and programmed the course to fit in with the course material they provided. The course is split into a series of modules. At the end of one of the modules the tutee's answers are automatically marked by my program and a marking sheet produced, all other modules are marked by tutors. Tutors can view their tutee's answers and mark them via the extensive password protected, web-based, administration system I provided (alternatively the answers can be automatically e-mailed to them). Amongst other things, the administration system also automatically produces the invoices for i-to-i to pay their tutors appropriately; produces reports and statistics including sales reports; e-mailing functionality including the ability to view all the e-mails sent to a particular tutee (or relating to them) and re-send. The system also producing on-the-fly PDF documents for download/printing, these include course certificates available for tutees to download immediately on completion of their course which are automatically generated there and then when a tutee requests it. View some screen shots of the admin system (updated August 2008) Visit www.onlinetefl.com Shopping cart system I developed a shopping cart system with full web-based password protected administration system for i-to-i. I have also included a wish list facility - anybody can create a wish list of items which they'd like from the shop. Visitors to the shop can search the wish lists to find out what items their friends or family would like, with the option of immediately adding one of the items to their basket for purchase. Through the admin system i-to-i can create and maintain as many separate shops as they require. They can also create a new shop which is a copy of an existing one. They can set up main and sub-categories for items within their shops, add edit and delete shop items including uploading a small and large photo by attaching it to the admin system web page. Shop items can belong to multiple sub-categories, and sub-categories can belong to multiple main categories. The admin system also provides a search facility of items, and a mass search and replace facility (for example, changing all items at one price to another, or changing a word in the item text). The design of the shop that the web user sees is also completely configurable via the admin system. A design template can be uploaded via the admin system which is used for the visual look of the shop front end. The colours of different headings, and the graphics used for submitting forms (e.g. "Proceed to checkout", "Confirm", "Submit", "View basket" etc) can also be specifically set. Visit the main i-to-i shop Visit the online TEFL shop Visit the weekend TEFL shop Application forms system I developed an application form system for i-to-i. The administration system allows i-to-i to create as many customised application forms as they like, giving them different designs if they wish (which they may want to do if the application forms will be accessed via different web sites). They specify the content of the application form by adding drop down lists, text boxes etc. to the application form, giving those items an order, and specifying what values they can have - where appropriate. They also specify the total cost for the application form when payment details are taken at the end, or can provide a range of price options depending on different currencies. In addition, they can allow a discount code to be entered, specifying the various ranges the discount code can have, and what percentage discount it gives from the total price. For each application form, details of a Secure Hosting account can be specified. That Secure Hosting account is then accessed at the end of the application form process to take the payment details securely. See an application form in use. View a few screenshots of the admin system. Desktop application I designed and programmed a desktop application to run on Microsoft Windows. The program is written in Visual Basic 6 and comes with a Windows installation/setup program. The program connects to the website database where the contact details of users who have requested information/brochures are stored (I also wrote the system which allows web site users to request brochures via their main website), retrieves them, and automatically inserts them into i-to-i's own internal administrative database system. This saves them having to type all the details into their database themselves, saving hours of time. View a screenshot of the application. |
